Star Indian batsman Virat Kohli did not secure a spot among the top 10 most searched celebrities globally in 2023, despite being a prominent figure in the world of sports. Kohli boasts a massive social media following, with over 265 million on Instagram, 50 million on Facebook, and nearly 60 million on X (formerly Twitter). Surprisingly, his name didn’t feature among the top 10 most Googled individuals from India this year.
On the other hand, emerging cricketer Shubman Gill topped the list of most searched cricketers in 2023 and claimed the second spot overall. Joining him were five other cricketers, including Mohammed Shami in fourth place and Suryakumar Yadav at ninth. Bollywood actress Kiara Advani led the rankings, surpassing Gill in search queries.

However, in the broader spectrum of athletes, Kohli didn’t clinch the top spot in searches. That honor went to Cristiano Ronaldo, the revered footballer playing for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr at 38 years old.
Kohli’s recent performances have been impressive, notably during the last WTC cycle, where he amassed 932 runs for India. His form continued with notable contributions in Tests against the West Indies and a standout performance in the ODI World Cup on home soil, where he gathered 765 runs and was awarded the Player of the Tournament.
